What Reelgood users are saying
The reviews describe "Margin Call" as having a slow pace and flat characters, with a lackluster ending. Kevin Spacey and Zachary Quinto's performances were praised, while the rest of the star-heavy cast was underused. The film is noted for its explanation of the 2008 financial crash but may appeal mainly to those interested in history, economics, or the stock market.

I thought I loved this movie until I recently convinced my husband to watch it with me. I noticed that the pace dragged, most of the characters were flat, and the ending was… blah. Sadly, the excellent star-heavy cast was underused with the exception of Kevin Spacey and Zachary Quinto. Stanley Tucci was amazing, as always, but his character was referred to more than actually getting screen time. It’s worth watching even if only for Quinto’s brilliant quant Peter Sullivan’s explanation of the origins of the 2008 financial crash. While Spacey fully immersed himself in his character, it’s hard to forget that it is, indeed, Kevin Spacey - a despicable human being in real life. I admit, it was fun to see Demi Moore’s character get her comeuppance especially given her lifeless portrayal. The rest of the cast seemed to be window dressing, Watch once, but probably only if you’re a history, economics, or stock market geek.
