Bruney, who's pastor of Zion Missionary Church, placed a 125-pound board bristling with 3,000 nails on his chest and stomach. Amy Bruney then skipped rope on top of that board 117 times, setting a record for the stunt. John Bruney said he told his music-teacher wife, "Don't stop no matter what you hear below." He says Amy's rope-skipping knocked the wind out of him and left his ribs aching. Aid for veteran teaching degrees gains support Veterans could have easier access to a teaching degree in Indiana if legislation passed by the state Senate continues to gain support. State senators unanimously passed a bill Thursday to create the Second Service program. The program would require state colleges and universities to give education credit to veterans or members of the Indiana National Guard.
Veterans would receive credit for courses taken during service or for passing equivalency exams. Colleges and universities also would be required to offer in-state tuition to any veteran accepted to the program. Veterans from other states would be required to teach at an Indiana public school for one year. Both the full House and governor must also approve the bill before it becomes law. Unconfirmed big cat sightings continue in Ind. Reports of possible mountain lion sightings across Indiana continue coming in even though state wildlife officials haven't confirmed any sightings for nearly four years. The state Department of Natural Resources has received about 300 reports of possible big cat sightings since early 2010, agency biologist Shawn Rossler told The One man made plaster castings of paw prints this week from a suspected big cat on his property near Morgan-Monroe State Forest outside Bloomington. Rossler said those prints were likely left by a smaller animal, such as a bobcat or a possum, but that the DNR keeps reviewing reports. "We know it's a rare possibility, but we want to know about it as much as anyone," Rossler said.

The Herald-Times reports a Brown County jury on Friday acquitted James Bowyer of Mor-gantown on all charges in his arson trial. He was accused of setting the fire that destroyed the Little Nashville Opry in September 2009. Prosecutors said Bowyer set the fire in hopes of collecting $3 million in insurance money because he was heavily in debt from gambling losses. Authorities said both Bowyer and his companion, Little Nashville Opry owner Esther Hamilton, had accumulated large debts from casino gambling. Bowyer's attorney maintained during his trial he had not been the last to leave the property the night of the fire.
