    I wanted to take a moment to share a personal journey that I believe many of us in the tech industry can relate to: the experience of being laid off and the subsequent journey of reassessing skills while searching for another job.I recently found myself in a position I hadn't anticipated - being laid off from a company I thoroughly enjoyed working for. Despite my dedication and passion for the role, sometimes life throws unexpected challenges our way. While it was a difficult moment, I left with nothing but gratitude for the experiences and opportunities I had during my eight-year tenure.As daunting as the prospect of job searching can be, I choose to view this as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. One of the first steps I’ve taken was to reassess my skill set and identify areas where I could further develop. The tech industry is ever evolving, and staying ahead often requires continuous learning and adaptation. I’m investing time in upskilling, diving deeper into emerging technologies, and honing my expertise in areas that are in high demand.During this time, I am also considering how I can further leverage my people skills within the tech industry. While my background in tech is fulfilling, I am exploring opportunities where I can utilize my ability to connect and communicate effectively with others to make a positive impact in various tech-related roles.I also acknowledge the significance of refining my interview skills. Learning how to interview again is a necessary step in this process, alongside honing my technical skills. Consistently practicing articulating my experiences, emphasizing my strengths, and illustrating how I can add value to prospective employers is crucial. As I navigate this journey, I am committed to adapting and growing to meet the demands of the industry.As I move forward, I'm reminded of the resilience and adaptability that define our industry.     I'm super excited for my next role. No, I don't have one quite yet, but when I do I know that company is getting the best version of me, personally and professionally. I have always been successful and gave each organization I've worked with my all but the growth over the years has led me to where I am now. Some of my biggest weaknesses have turned to some of my biggest strengths and I'm ready to bring those to my next role. You see, I was promoted to management in my mid 20s and as you can imagine, I was NOT ready! I had the skills and talents, and I took really good care of my team, but I also thought I knew everything and that if you weren't with me you were wrong. I wasn't afraid to publicly tell people they were wrong (more like publicly humiliate myself). I significantly lacked: - empathy - active listening skills - an understanding of how teams worked together to achieve goals But today?:- Today I genuinely understand others and build relationships that lead to mutual benefit, connection and results - Today I seek first to understand then to be understood- Today I know that results come from synergy within teams And today cross functional collaboration is one of my biggest strengths and assets to my next team.This growth has taken the better part of a decade (don't do the math on my age) but I wouldn't be where I am today without those experiences and growth opportunities. So, to everyone that's been a part of my journey, both good and bad, I think of you often and appreciate you more than you know!     The PERFECT Senior Tech role appears on LinkedIn with 400 applications already...Let me tell you why you shouldn't be put off by this...I know you might look at the sheer volume of applications and the little voice in your head starts to tell you all the reasons you shouldn't waste your time.But what I do know from nearly 14 years of advertising hundreds of jobs and reviewing thousands of CVs...I can categorically tell you...About 10% (or less!) of those CV's will be somewhat relevant to the role. Much better odds right?And when I say somewhat... there's still more questions to be asked to find out if they are right for the role.However...If you come along with a CV that is so clear and specific about what you do and what problems you help solve...... you might just be one of the few that secures an interview.So next time you see the advert with 400 applications and find yourself scrolling past it...𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 ➡️ 𝗥𝗘𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗗 ➡️ 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗬DM's are always open for anyone that is struggling with landing a Techie Strategy & Ops role.
